Community Resilience Hubs

Strengthening Community Resilience

Groundswell and representatives from partner organization celebrate Community Resilience Hubs

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Groundswell’s Community Resilience Hubs equip local communities with solar energy and backup energy storage, ensuring critical services—such as powering medical devices, enabling emergency communications, and phone charging—remain readily available during power outages. In addition to supporting immediate emergency response, community resilience hubs provide lasting value to site hosts by delivering electricity bill savings through on-site energy generation, helping to fund job training, food distribution, youth programs, and more. Each hub is co-designed with the community through a deep engagement process that ensures alignment with existing priorities, encourages community ownership, and leverages data to improve energy resilience.

HOW IT WORKS

Groundswell partners with communities to create community resilience hubs with solar and storage systems, helping local communities and providing reliable power during outages.

Part 1 of how Community Resilience Hubs work - Solar Energy A battery stores energy produced either by a solar system on the building or energy that is produced and distributed by the grid.
Part 2 of how Community Resilience Hubs work - Battery Storage The battery provides power for certain key functions needed during an outage, like lighting, heating and AC, and charging for electronic devices.
Part 3 of how Community Resilience Hubs work - Trusted Location Resilience hubs generate lasting benefits, using electricity bill savings to support job training, food distribution, and youth programs.
Part 4 of how Community Resilience Hubs work - Equipped Communities Solar-powered microgrids ensure critical services - lie medical device power, emergency communication, and phone charging - during outages.
