On August 17 at 11 am, Groundswell in partnership with the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Green Bank, SunLight General Capital, and Suncatch Energy will celebrate Montgomery County's first community solar project focused on benefiting low and moderate-income households to become operational in Pepco's Maryland territory.
Community solar allows individual households to receive electricity bill credits from a nearby solar project, and this 273-kW solar installation will serve 91 households with SharePower™️ community solar subscriptions. Twenty-eight of those subscriptions are exclusively available to income-qualified Empowered households, including residents of Paddington Square Apartments and surrounding neighborhoods.
This ribbon cutting will provide members of the Paddington Square community and the organizations who made this project possible with an opportunity to celebrate this historic moment in Maryland’s history.
