Marcus Thomas is the Associate Director of Organizational Development at Groundswell, a nonprofit that builds community power through equitable community solar projects and resilience centers, clean energy programs that reduce energy burdens, and pioneering research initiatives that help light the way to clean energy futures for all.

Marcus contributes a strong background in Human Resources, Business Operations, and Community Outreach and Partnerships to the Groundswell team. He focuses on organizational excellence, employee engagement, and prioritizing Groundswell's strategic values of building a values-centric organization through overseeing recruitment efforts, supporting daily business operations, and managing and leading a range of HR administrative processes and functions.

An advocate for equity and social change, Marcus has a passion for making a positive impact on African American youths and impoverished communities, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in their calling, reach their ultimate potential, and create meaningful change for the next generation.

Marcus earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Resource Management with a minor in Accounting and his MBA in Project Management from Liberty University.

Outside of work, Marcus is a husband to Sofia and a father to their 1-year old son, Isaiah. He enjoys playing basketball or golf with close friends, listening to good music, and spending quality time with his family.
