Nicole Sonderegger is the Director of Energy Programs at Groundswell. She oversees the deployment of Groundswell’s solar, resiliency and energy efficiency programs in GA and MD, which bring clean energy to low-income communities and help reduce their energy burdens. Nicole develops strategic partnerships with public and private partners, manages contracts and technical vendors, and develops processes to launch and run new programs.

Nicole brings a passion for empowering underserved communities and leveraging business acumen to build sustainable and scalable solutions for a more equitable and greener future. Prior to joining Groundswell, Nicole worked for La Cocina VA, where she helped train and place over 40 underserved adults into gainful employment. She also worked for Oracle, where she supported federal agencies in modernizing their IT systems.

Nicole earned her Master’s degree in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the London School of Economics, in addition to dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Nicole also holds a graduate certificate in Project Monitoring and Evaluation from American University.

Originally from Costa Rica, Nicole is a native Spanish speaker and a lover of nature and the outdoors.
