Washington, DC — Pastors and faith leaders from the District, Maryland and Virginia region are invited to a morning conference and luncheon at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Capitol Heights, Maryland on Thursday, August 31st, 2017, to explore the economic, environmental and educational potential of solar power.
Regional faith leaders are in a particularly unique position to leverage solar power as a means of both enhancing existing ministries as well as generating wealth in the communities they serve. And by hosting community solar projects that are community-owned and operated, faith centers can further serve their communities by helping save residents money on their energy bills and create local hiring and career development opportunities in the fields of clean energy and sustainability.
The event, called “Faith and Fellowship: Plan, Purpose and Solar Power,” will be hosted by Groundswell’s Pastor Dant’e King and Bishop Keith Martin. Speakers will include Trenton Allen, Founder and CEO of Sustainable Capital Advisors, Kimberly Lewis, Senior Vice President of the U.S. Business Council, and Michelle Moore, CEO of Groundswell. Topics will include:
- “Solar Economics: What can a solar project do for your community and your church?”
- ”Building a Green Ministry: Training, workforce development and serving the new generation,”
- “Building community power”
The conference and luncheon are free and open to all interested pastors and faith leaders.
