How to Find Your Community Solar Credits on Your Pepco Bill

Your monthly Pepco bill has a lot of useful information on it, but it can be difficult to understand. We are here to help.

In this blog post, we will show you where to find your community solar credits on your Pepco bill. Let’s get started.

My community solar subscription is active! Where can I find my credits?

Pepco applies community solar credits to your bill once a month. From the time you’ve been notified by Groundswell that your subscription is active, it may take one to two billing cycles before credits appear on your bill.

Once Pepco starts applying credits to your bill, you’ll see them on the back of the first page under “Type of Charge.” On the left side, you’ll see “CNM Credit,” which stands for “Community Net Metering” (which is what Pepco calls community solar credits), and then the ID number of the solar project that is generating energy for you.

This is where you will find a “CNM Credit,” which shows an abbreviation for the project that you subscribed to, how much energy that project generated, and the resulting credit towards your utility bill.

In the center, you’ll see how much Pepco credits your bill for each kWh (kilowatt-hour) of solar electricity you use. Finally, on the right, you’ll see the total credit against your utility bill for that month.

Will my solar credit be the same every month?

The credits on your Pepco bill will vary from month to month. You’ll typically see a bigger credit during the summer months when the sun shines a lot and the days are longer. Over the course of a full year, your utility bill credits should total about $500.

I’m excited to receive solar credits. Are there other benefits from community solar?

Absolutely. Community solar is good for clean air, a healthy climate, and our local clean energy economy. Through your participation in community solar, you are making a healthier and more equitable energy future possible for all District residents!

How does Pepco know that I’m a subscriber?

Groundswell makes sure of it! As a part of our work serving and supporting you as a community solar subscriber, we stay in close communication with Pepco. We make sure that Pepco knows exactly who is a subscriber, to which community solar project, and with what size subscription so that they can apply an accurate credit to your bill. If you have questions about the community solar credit on your Pepco bill, please call us. We’re here to help and it’s our job to serve you.
