Brooke Williams leads the affordability and community resilience research for Southern Company Services – Research and Development. Williams’ comprehensive understanding of infrastructure, operations, and customer programs enables her to drive forward collaborative strategic initiatives across various business units within each operating company.
Recognizing that advancing customer-focused initiatives is enriched by a diversity of perspectives, Williams’ actively collaborates with a wide array of stakeholders, including governmental entities, community-based and philanthropic organizations, and innovative startups. Through partnerships and active engagement with communities, we strive to cultivate a shared strategic vision. Together with industry partners, we highlight the critical social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability in the energy sector, underlining the crucial importance of in-depth community engagement as we forge a clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy future.
Throughout her 16 years in the energy industry, Williams has held various roles – first within power delivery and marketing at Alabama Power and since 2019, with Southern Company’s research and development (R&D) organization. She is an experienced program and project manager with a focus on customer experience, energy use, and field operations. When Williams began in R&D, she focused on industrial technologies and electric transportation grid integration research.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics from Mississippi State University and is a registered professional engineer for power-electrical engineering. She has an executive certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Cambridge University.
Originally from Brandon, Mississippi, Williams has lived in Birmingham, Alabama, for the past 16 years. She is married to Ken and they have two children.
