Nelson Reyneri

Nelson Reyneri is Director of Strategic Alliances & Policy at NRG Energy, where he operates at the intersection of energy markets, regulatory policy, and corporate strategy. He leads efforts to shape market design, strategic partnerships, and policy engagement in response to structural shifts in the electricity sector, including large-load growth driven by AI and data centers, the expansion of distributed energy resources, and evolving customer expectations.

In his role, Nelson advises senior leadership on energy affordability, market structure, and regulatory developments across key U.S. markets, including PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE. He has built a broad network of alliances across industry, academic, and civic organizations, helping position NRG as a leader in advancing competitive markets and customer-focused solutions.

Prior to NRG, Nelson was a Principal at Point B, where he advised clients on ESG strategy, decarbonization, and regulatory risk. He previously served as a senior executive at Liberty Power, where he played a key role in scaling the company into one of the nation’s largest competitive energy suppliers.

Nelson also has extensive public sector experience, including serving as Chief of Staff at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and in senior roles in the White House and U.S. Senate. He currently serves on multiple boards, including as Chairman of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
